Backstory

Sanseking began not as a business, but as a personal journey—born from the joy of tabletop adventures and the pursuit of dice that felt truly worthy of the worlds we explore.

It all started one weekend back in college. I was deep into a campaign of Dungeons & Dragons, playing a spell-weaving illusionist who relied on every roll. I realized something most players eventually feel: the dice you use matter. They weren’t just tools of chance—they were part of the story. But the more sets I looked at, the more uniform everything looked. The colors, the shapes, the feel in my hand… nothing really inspired me. I wanted dice that felt like extensions of the characters I played—pieces that had personality, soul, and weight.

For inspiration, I started experimenting in my small apartment workshop. What began as simple attempts—mixing pigments, layering resins, sculpting numbers by hand—quickly grew into an obsession with perfection. I wanted dice that weren’t just pretty, but meaningful. I wanted them to feel alive in your hand before you even rolled them.

I experimented with every material I could find—high-clarity resins that shimmered like dragonglass, electroplated finishes that caught the light like an elf’s spectral blade, and ultra-precise molds that balanced weight and feel for a fair, satisfying roll. Some days were failures—dice that bubbled, colors that dulled, or short runs that never matched the vision I had in mind. But each setback taught me something new about materials, chemistry, and the alchemy of design.

One of the biggest breakthroughs came when I began studying how light interacts with different finishes. Inspired by fiber-optic effects and the way natural minerals reflect light, I developed our signature Cat’s Eye and Diamond-Cut series—sets that aren’t just rolled, but admired before and after every game. These weren’t just accessories; they were artifacts players were proud to own.

I shared early samples with my closest tabletop friends. The response was unanimous—this wasn’t just another dice set. It felt right. People began asking for complete sets, custom color combinations, or special editions for their characters and campaigns. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just a hobby anymore. My passion had turned into something bigger—a craft that deserved its own place in the world.

So, Sanseking was born—out of countless hours of trial, error, midnight tweaks, and unwavering passion. Today, every set we make carries that same spirit: crafted for players who roll with intent, collect with pride, and cherish the stories behind every dice set.

We’re not just making dice. We’re making tools for memories, relics for campaigns, and tokens players will keep long after the quest ends.

Welcome to Sanseking—where every roll begins a legend.
